AP Classes and Barn Visits — International Admissions Consultants Visit Campus
On Tuesday, September 17, and Wednesday, September 25, Foxcroft welcomed over a dozen international agents to campus as part of their regional tours of day and boarding schools in the United States.
An annual goal of the admission office at Foxcroft is to ensure a diverse and global community, and partnerships with mission-aligned organizations are enhanced by personal touches with campus and deep familiarity with who Foxcroft is.
Agents from WEBA World representing Nigeria, Pakistan, and Iran visited on September 17. WEBA World is an agent-mobilizing association that develops events, training, and networks for global consultants interested in placing international students in U.S. schools. Then, on September 25, agents from GE International representing China, Vietnam, Germany, Spain, Mexico, and Panama toured campus. GE International is a private firm with a robust network of agents worldwide. GE CEO Mao Mao Mark also attended the event. The GE tour featured Foxcroft as the only all-girls school amid eight other boarding schools.
Among their activities while on campus, agents visited the barn to meet Kendall Bear, Associate Director of Riding, who introduced them to two beloved horses — TJ and Enderby — who enjoyed their brush downs and carrot treats from the visitors. The Middleburg Hunt visited campus with ten hounds for students, faculty, and agents alike to learn more about the Hunt's connection with Foxcroft and enjoy some American foxhound energy. Morning Meeting included student announcements, presentations, and opportunities to see and feel the community and culture of the institution.
Finally, teachers Stephanie Young '00 and Alex Northup each provided demo lessons for the agents to experience. Ms. Young provided a sample AP World History lesson utilizing a systems analysis model, and Mr. Northrup led the agents through an exercise in AP Human Geography. As Head of Partner Relations at GE asserted, "You guys knocked it out of the park with the whole visit! Beyond the general warmth and friendliness on campus, you were the only school that offered an interactive demo lesson. The agents liked that a lot."
